Dr. Senese was a full-time faculty member from graduate school through the late 1990's during which time he taught and conducted mostly quantitative research in corrections and criminal justice as well as in many correctional and criminal justice settings across the United States. He has conducted research with the Department of Justice and Department of Defense among other national and local organizations. Dr. Senese has dozens of publications and a book and he has presented his work locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. His special areas of expertise include: statistical analyses, forecasting, non-linear models, structural models, corrections, police use of force, jails, faculty retirement programs, faculty salary analyses, assessment, strategic planning, program evaluation, academic fundraising, multi-year multi-million dollar budget planning and execution. Since earning tenure as a faculty member in the middle 1990’s at the University of Baltimore and again at Penn State University, he transitioned into roles as a university academic administrative leader including work as a department chair, associate dean, chief academic officer/vice president for academic affairs in several small, mid-sized and larger institutions.

At Cardinal Stritch University as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Senese works closely with all academic areas at the university, the president and with colleagues in university administration to achieve the goals and aspirations at the largest Franciscan University in the United States. The VPAA is the Chief Academic Officer working with the deans of the four colleges at the main campus (Nursing & Health Sciences, Business & Management, Arts & Sciences, and Education & Leadership) as well as with faculty and their leaders at the various delivery locations in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. In addition Dr. Senese works with the Student Success Center as it is organizationally in academics and it includes student support, residence life, student life and academic counseling and academic support. Academics at Stritch is focused on creating a platform for continued excellence, data driven and innovative actions, focusing on student learning in all aspects of their life at the institution and collegial and collaborative forward progress.
